Item upgrades give players the possibility of upgrading equipment that they already own. This can be done at any upgrader NPC.

Generally upgrades increase an items main stats and provide additional benefits based on the type. Examples include Whistan’s shield for FB Sorcs or Goldwraps for casting builds.

Armour

Armour is among the key things that keeps Link protected from damage in all situations. Although it cannot be upgraded like weapons, it is possible to enhance its defence capabilities in different ways.

The basic idea of armour is to shield the person or animal from physical injury or harm whether from physical attack or various dangers posed by the environment and activities. Historically, most armour was made of fabrics or leather, however metal protections were also used in military applications, particularly like heavy cavalry or combat drones.

Like weapons there are a variety of ways in which armor can be upgraded, but the majority of them require visiting one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain comes with its own level of upgrades, with more granting greater levels of protection, but needing a higher amount of rupees and the materials needed to unlock.

The first thing to remember about Armor Upgrades is they are permanent upgrades which means that once they've been installed, they are not able to be replaced unless there is another piece of equipment that comes with the same upgrade. You should only apply the highest-level upgrades to your equipment and make sure that you have the equipment required to complete them.

You will find the upgrades you need in many places throughout Hyrule. These include shrines, merchants and even enemies. These will generally be marked with an gold circle or blue triangle symbol and will be available in large quantities as you advance through the game. They could appear randomly, but there is a chance that obtaining certain upgrades will trigger a quest that will reward you with even more.

It's also worth noting that, even though the level of protection provided by each upgrade varies but it's the same for all upgrades and will always be superior to nothing. A full set of upgraded armor will give you a strong defense boost that will protect against all kinds of attacks and will also protect against magic. This makes it a powerful weapon for any class.

Weapons

If you'd like to make your guns distinctive, you can upgrade them with a variety of special upgrades. They can boost damage, change the weapon's stats in order to adapt to your specific build or even unlock new attachments, such as unique enchantments, ammo types and more aesthetic options.

To upgrade a weapon, you'll need an upgrade component ready and the item itself. The weapon should be at a minimum of a certain level to upgrade it. Most weapons can only be upgraded by one upgrade.

Weapon upgrade components are available scattered throughout the world, from enemies or from merchants. The upgrade components themselves are made up of ingredients that can be put into weapons, armor, trinkets, and gathering tools to grant an attribute bonus or other effect when they are in use. The equipment has to be of a certain level in order to accept the upgrade. It can be upgraded in the same way as other items.

The upgrades themselves are a mixture of Smithing Stones and Runes, and are used to improve the stats of a base weapon and improving its scaling with other stats. These upgrades are available from enemies in the open or from merchants. They are also dropped through combat.

There are two NPCs who can upgrade your weapons: the Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub area and the Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor hub area. Both of these NPCs will take your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a higher-level version of the weapon and an enhancement.

It's essential to prioritize upgrading your most-used items first, followed by the ones you won't replace in the near future. If you're playing a melee build, for instance upgrade your weapon, then your chest and shoulders before your feet and hands. The same principle applies to Magic and Utility Items. But, depending on your style of play, certain procs will be more beneficial than others. The same is true for Armour, with some reforges being superior to others.

Magic Items

A character can only upgrade one item of magic at one time. If an upgrade project is canceled and the next upgrade for the item will not start. Magic items that are upgraded cost twice the gold they would normally cost to make or purchase, but they can also offer additional benefits.

A magical item is any item that has some special properties or effects. These items are mostly weapons, but they can also be shields, armors, cloaks and potions. They could also be scrolls, rings or other items. Some of these items are sentient.

Most magical items can be upgraded so that they are infused with additional abilities. This makes them more useful for players, or can aid them in overcoming any difficult situation. A weapon that contains a special substance might, for instance, provide additional damage against a specific type of enemy. Other objects with enchanted powers could allow the player's appearance to be changed, or they could even create a new appearance. These items are particularly useful for characters that are forced to leave their home or in a location that they might not be welcome. A magical item could give them the ability to disappear or make them invisible for everyone except the chosen person.

Utility Items

Utility items are products that don't fall into the categories of Armor, Clothing or Weapons and have a range of different capabilities. They are not compatible with each other, as opposed to weapons or armor. Most utility items have an effect that the player can activate when using them, but some also have additional capabilities that activate when the user presses an action button or activates an ability.

The Flashlight is the most common utilitarian item. It illuminates the surrounding area. Other items that are useful include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player to float in mid-air while moving and the Jetpack which allows the player to accelerate in all directions when on the ground. Many utilitarian items can be quickly produced in the Engineering section, while others can be unlocked through research projects or projects at the Proving Ground.

Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to the ones that are available in their normal inventory by purchasing them from the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Some of these items are upgradeable to make them more effective.

The majority of utility items give the player a navigational advantage or increase the ability to fight. For instance, sharpening stones crafted by the Weaponsmith increase Power and Ferocity as well as Maintenance Oils created by the Huntsman improve the power of concentration and healing. Other items of utility like Writs and Theses created by the Scribe can be utilized to give the player an increase in Damage or Condition Damage.
